Half a million homes are currently without electricity in Quebec, for a reason that is still unknown.
The outages are not concentrated in one place, affecting many neighborhoods. In Montreal, nearly 141,000 homes are without power. A large part of Rosemont, Outremont, Griffintown and Côte-Saint-Luc, in particular, has no power. On the South Shore, Longueuil, Brossard and Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu are hard hit. In the north of the island, several districts of Laval are showing outages, as well as Terrebonne.
In Quebec too, breakdowns are numerous. In fact, one in five households in the capital is affected by a breakdown, i.e. nearly 88,000.
The outages started around noon.
More details to come.
