The EU recently made Iran its so-called “final offer” for a return to the nuclear deal. With the proviso of accepting it or leaving it. And what happened? Iran has sent back demands. Will the EU now give way again, make concessions again?

The deal is unquestionably good for the mullahs’ regime as a terrorist financier: it would bring in $100 billion a year. Billions for rockets, for Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad. Money for the notorious Revolutionary Guards, which according to the latest demand from Tehran are to be removed from the terror list. And money for the nuclear program.

US President Joe Biden has declared: The point is to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear state. The International Atomic Energy Agency, however, complains about open cases and no credible explanations for the origin of many traces of uranium. This is exactly what it is about: verifiability and control. Only then can sanctions such as those imposed on banks be lifted.

The EU must not allow Iran to stall and move ever closer to nuclear weapons. The EU must insist on its stance: take it or leave it. The mullahs must not be exempted from the consequences.
