More optimistic tones have recently been heard from Kyiv regarding the future course of the war. Things were different at the height of the Russian Donbass offensive, when up to 500 Ukrainians were wounded or lost their lives every day. There is currently talk of 30 deaths per day, which is terrible enough.

The reason for Kiev’s cautious optimism is the supply of weapons to the West, of which another large package has now been promised. The USA is at the forefront, but Germany, Great Britain and other countries have also announced equipment and ammunition.

Of particular importance are the six Nasams anti-aircraft systems that the Americans are sending. Delivery was announced as early as July, and Ukrainian soldiers should start training on the system at the beginning of August. The systems now announced will be added.

Anti-aircraft defense will significantly increase the quality and capacity of Ukrainian defense. Above all, Russian rocket terror can be counteracted in this way; but enemy combat aircraft can also become a target and thus secure the airspace for offensives. In addition to the Nasams systems, there are four Iris-T systems from Germany that are not even used by the Bundeswehr itself.

Also important is the package of 245,000 artillery shells. According to current data, Ukraine uses from three to six thousand rounds a day. Together with deliveries from other countries, this gives the Ukrainians an important cushion. A lack of ammunition has been one of the biggest problems for the Ukrainian army in recent weeks.

The third item (along with a few others on the list) that is notable is deliveries of Puma surveillance drones and anti-drone systems. Russians and Ukrainians are currently using drones very effectively, and it is difficult to defend against them.
