Olaf Scholz no longer wants to. At least one could get the impression that the Chancellor is looking for a new job. At the weekend, the longtime professional politician visited an agricultural cooperative in Trebbin, Brandenburg. And was very enthusiastic about a combine harvester.

“That’s great – I’m changing jobs,” he said, as the harvester’s functions were explained to him. Scholz smiled as if he had found his new dream job.

Open fields instead of the dreary chancellery, fresh grain instead of old files – tempting. Scholz could finally tackle the big problems himself – and do something about the shortage of skilled workers in agriculture and solve the Russian grain blockade in one fell swoop.

Scholz should do it. Combine harvesting is always better than phrase-mongering.
