Teutonia Ottensen certainly never dreamed of what trouble this title would bring when she won the Hamburg Cup and qualified for the DFB Cup. Especially since the regional league team was actually drawn to a dream opponent for the first round of the cup with cup winners RB Leipzig. But the whole thing has long since turned into a nightmare for Ottensen: At first, neither HSV nor FC St. Pauli wanted to give up their stadium for the game against the not particularly popular Leipzig team.

Which made the home advantage obsolete and the game is now to take place in Dessau, just 70 kilometers from Leipzig. Or should. Because the sporting highlight in the pretty Bauhaus city is now unlikely to happen: After a poison attack on the lawn of the Paul-Greifzu-Stadion, it will hardly be possible to play there on August 30th.

The perpetrators of Dessau have achieved their goal, they get a lot of public attention with their nonsense. Then, if they get caught, it might not be as fun for them. But that’s not the point, there will always be imbeciles. More questionable is the soil on which this seed grows, in their aversion to RB Leipzig, some people no longer feel like an objective discussion.

Possibly one or the other hater of the construct of lawn ball sports after Dessau will even hit their thighs: Something like the one in Dessau hardly helps football, and also does little harm to the rich club from Leipzig, in this case the amateur club Teutonia Ottensen suffers.

What happens next, player health then? Will the people of Leipzig then tip something into their tea? As for the escalation in the RB discourse, it may be time to slow down. There’s too much poison involved.
