A man was arrested Sunday in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, in Montérégie, after the discovery of an inanimate body in a residence. Police have opened an investigation and are currently treating the case as a “suspicious death”.

According to Sergeant Jérémie Levesque, a call was first received at 911 around 9:15 a.m. At the end of the line, the caller asked the police to go to a residence on Avenue des Pins, in the sector Saint Luke.

At the scene, the first patrol officers found an inanimate body and arrested a man. The victim, whose age or sex has not been confirmed, was transported to a hospital center, where his death was unfortunately declared by the health authorities.

“A suspicious death case is currently being investigated,” Sergeant Levesque said Sunday.

As the victim’s family has not yet been informed of the situation, the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Police Department (SPSJR) says it will not give any further details on this case at this time.

To let the investigators do their work of collecting clues, a vast police perimeter was erected in the area. A portion of Avenue des Pins has also been temporarily closed. Potential witnesses could be met during the next few hours.
