
Parents’ representatives in Berlin fear that too little money will be made available for the renovation, expansion and new construction of schools in the next few years. The state parents’ committee announced at the weekend that the investment plans for school renovations were greeted with horror and great concern.
The panel warned of a loss of school places. The financial need is very great.
According to the Senate, 25,000 school places have been created and 2.9 billion euros spent as part of the “school building offensive” that started in 2016. In the coming years, new construction activity will continue to increase.

The plan is to create a good 31,200 additional places by the 2026/27 school year, it said.
