Ford’s 3.2-litre five cylinder engine has been replaced by a 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6.
Ford has not yet announced the power outputs of the unit. It produces about 190kW and 600Nm for American pick-ups.
The new V6 will come paired with a 10-speed manual transmission and four-wheel drive.
Ford does not currently offer hybrid or electric models, but it promises that the new machine will be future-proof and ready to produce green power in the coming years.
Customers looking for a more powerful or less expensive ute can opt for a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with either single or dual turbochargers.
This latter can be found in Ford Ranger Raptor where it produces 157kW and 500Nm peak power.
Ford has not confirmed that the Raptor will be returning, but it would surprise us if it didn’t return to showrooms within a few months after the debut of the new model.

The FordPass smartphone appcapable will allow owners to lock and unlock their vehicle. It also offers tips and booking services.
The Blue Oval will also offer four-wheel-drive experiences for new owners and concierge services to those who are not familiar with off-roading.
The new Ford Ranger will be available for purchase in the middle next year.
