A new book by Michelle Obama is due out November 15 worldwide in 14 languages and 27 countries. It is entitled The Light We Carry – Overcoming in Uncertain Times.
In the sequel to her world bestseller “Becoming”, the former First Lady of the USA shares “her knowledge and powerful strategies for hope and inner balance in uncertain times” with readers. This was announced on Thursday by the Penguin Random House publishing group, which acquired the worldwide publishing rights to the book.
In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the work is to be published in printed and digital form by Goldmann Verlag in an announced first edition of 200,000 copies. At the same time it is also published as an audio book.
As the wife of US President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, now 58, was the First Lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017 and was often dubbed the “President of Hearts” and America’s moral authority. Many hoped she would go into politics. “Drawing from her experiences as a mother, daughter, wife, friend and first lady, she shares the principles and beliefs that have helped her to overcome even the toughest obstacles in life and continue to grow,” it said.
“With her signature humor, openness, and compassion, she also sheds light on issues related to race, gender, and visibility, encouraging readers to overcome fears, find strength in community, and embrace life with courage to design.”
