US police arrested a gunman at the home of conservative Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. As the Supreme Court announced, the man had made threats against Kavanaugh on Wednesday night.

“Around 1:50 a.m. today, a man was arrested near Judge Kavanaugh’s home. The man was armed and threatened Judge Kavanaugh,” court spokesman Patricia McCabe said.

The Washington Post reported, citing investigators, that the man was arrested not far from Kavanaugh’s home in Chevy Chase outside of Washington. He had a gun and burglary tools with him and told officers he wanted to kill the judge. The 20-year-old man was reportedly angry about an upcoming Supreme Court decision on abortion rights.

A draft judgment leaked in early May shows that the conservative majority of Supreme Court justices are close to making the landmark decision Roe v. Wade” to overturn the 1973 right to abortion in the United States.

States would then have a free hand to ban abortions or drastically restrict access to abortions. The court’s final decision is expected later this month.
