(Hampstead) An automobile was destroyed by arson late Friday night in the municipality of Hampstead, in the west island of Montreal.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reports that the disaster did not cause any apparent injuries, but that no arrest could be made.

Police were notified around 3:50 a.m. that the fire was in progress at a residential driveway in Place Harland.

When the police arrived on the scene, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SSIM) were already at work to put out the fire. There was no spread of flames to the house.

Shortly after, an object used to start the fire was found.

The car is a total loss. It was to be towed later Friday so that investigators from the SPVM arson squad could examine it.
