At 26 years old, Mitch Marie has already worked 17 jobs. In her search for the ideal position, she doesn’t shy away from changing employers.

At the age of 26, Mitch Marie has already worked in 17 different jobs. The young woman describes herself as a “job hopper”, i.e. someone who hops from job to job. Although it was definitely “exhausting”, she would continue to apply until she found the position that best suited her ideas.

Because, “Why should I work for a company where I overwork but don’t get paid well enough?” she asks in a TikTok video that has now been seen by around 10,000 people.

She has never lasted longer than “two years maximum” in a job. At the time, however, she was still in college and the part-time job simply brought her money. Now she wants to work for a company for a maximum of six months: “Then you’ll lose me.”

In the past it was easy to always find a new job. She now says: “The job market is garbage.” That’s why she’s currently holding on to her job, but at the same time she’s already looking for job number 18.

In the comments, many users share Mitch Marie’s attitude. One user commented: “I don’t want to work anymore. Honestly, I don’t know why we do this. All we do is pay bills.”

Another user is a job hopper herself and says clearly: “I won’t stay longer than a year.”

In Germany, employees seem to be more loyal to their company than American TikTokers. According to data from the Federal Statistical Office, in a survey in 2022, 42 percent of employees stated that they had been employed by their employer for at least ten years.

However, more than a third (around 38 percent) stated that they had been employed at the same company for less than five years.

But Gen-Z in particular has clear ideas about which employers they don’t want to work for – and chooses them carefully.

16-year-old Sophie actually just wanted to celebrate her prom with her friends, but the student was excluded from the event. Because she came in a suit instead of an evening dress.
