Update:

The National Weather Service has issued an advisory for blizzards, effective Friday night through Saturday afternoon. There will be a total snow accumulation of between 11 and 15 inches and wind gusts up to 50 MPH.

 

Long Island is preparing for snowstorms and near-blizzard conditions. Total snow accumulations could reach 12 inches.

According to the National Weather Service, nor’easter will make travel “very difficult to impossible” Saturday. From 7 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. on Saturday, a winter storm warning will be in effect. Snow may begin Friday night or Saturday morning. Expect new snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches. Expect heavy snow on Saturday with gusts up and possible 6-10 more inches.
