An 18-year-old man is in critical condition after being hit by at least one projectile fired from a vehicle by a suspect who fled on Sunday in the borough of Anjou.

Montreal Police Service officers were called to Hérisson Avenue, near the intersection with Thérèse-Casgrain Avenue, Sunday evening, around 10 p.m.

They found the young man there on the ground, on the sidewalk, unconscious and injured in the upper body. He was quickly transported to a hospital and there are fears for his life.

According to the first information available, he was hit by at least one projectile fired from a vehicle in which a suspect fled. Witnesses of the scene will be met by the investigators, indicated a spokesperson for the Police Department of the City of Montreal, Caroline Chèvrefils.

A perimeter has been set up around the scene for the arrival of investigators and forensic identification technicians. The canine unit was also called to the scene to help search for clues.
