A kind of colorful pavilion has been standing next to the Estrel Hotel near the Sonnenallee S-Bahn station in Berlin-Neukölln for about a month: The art installation “Filtered Rays” by the British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori mixes colours, patterns and light and is for everyone freely accessible to people.
“Architecture and design should be there for everyone, not just for a group, which is why my installations in public places are projects that are close to my heart,” Ilori explains his concept.
The installation should create a “space for optimism and encounters. A place where people want to sit down, read, play, talk, make music. A place where they feel good, alone and with others.”
Meditation and yoga sessions are held regularly in the pavilion until the end of September. The Berlin meditation teacher Boris Kralj takes participants on guided sensory journeys and Sophia Katschinski and Esther Bauer combine Kundalini yoga with aromatherapy.
Dance workshops, readings and other events are also planned for the installation in the future. Participation in the sessions is free of charge, but prior registration is required due to the limited number of participants. Further information and the entire program can be found here.
