A motorcyclist died in a traffic accident on Autobahn 10 north of Berlin on Sunday. Three other people were injured, some seriously, according to the North Police Department on Monday.
The suspected cause of the accident, a 31-year-old driver, was drunk and driving at high speed into the area in front of a construction site. Five vehicles were involved in the accident, which occurred around 6:10 p.m. near the municipality of Mühlenbecker Land between the Mühlenbeck junction and the Pankow triangle.
In the direction of Pankow, the A10 was completely closed for several hours due to rescue and recovery measures and the recording of the accident. According to the police, it was not released until around 4:45 a.m.
According to initial findings, the 31-year-old drove his Hyundai at a speed of 180 to 200 in the left lane of the motorway in an area where the speed limit is 80 in front of a construction site and the road is narrowed from three to two lanes.

A 39-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured and died at the scene of the accident. A 37-year-old motorcyclist was taken to a clinic with serious injuries, and the two slightly injured drivers were also taken to the hospital. In the accident, the Audi of a 44-year-old driving in the opposite direction was damaged by debris.
According to the police, a breath alcohol test on the alleged accident driver showed a value of 2.72 per mille. His driver’s license was confiscated. The total damage is reported to be around 80,000 euros.
