Should we only pay for our flights at check-in in the future, once we are sure that the plane will actually take off? Lufthansa rejects an initiative by the Lower Saxony state government that calls for such an approach.

“Despite the many flight plan changes, we are making almost all of the refunds within the specified period of just seven days. In this respect, there is no reason for this political initiative,” said a company spokesman for the editorial network Germany (RND/Tuesday).

In addition, the question arises as to whether it is in the interest of passengers to de facto restrict the cheaper early booking tariffs by prohibiting the practice of paying in advance. The background is thousands of cancellations this summer.

All airlines have to cancel connections, mainly because there is a lack of staff. As a rule, the tickets are paid for immediately after booking – this can mean many months in advance for holiday trips.
