The evidence storage facility was also destroyed in the major fire at the Berlin police blast site in Grunewald. The confirmed police spokeswoman Heidi Vogt the daily mirror.

“It is currently not possible to say whether the fire on the blast site destroyed evidence relevant to the investigation,” said Vogt. There is also no conclusive answer to the question of the cause of the fire, the investigations continued.

Building 3 of the blast site was used to examine evidence such as pyrotechnics and other objects containing explosives. Experts from the Forensic Institute and the police defusers are currently getting an overview of the exact damage. They are also restoring the water and electricity supply on the site and clearing the paths.

Criticism of the storage of evidence comes from Marcel Luthe, chairman of the Good Governance union. “The security of the Berlin police is full of holes like Swiss cheese,” he says. “Not only the Senate and Parliament have known that, but also the head of the authority for decades – and yet the evidence, which is central to important procedures, wasn’t better protected?”

The large fire that broke out two weeks ago also completely destroyed the ammunition workhouse, as well as other ammunition storage facilities. Three police cars were also burned out.
