(Washington) A young woman, armed with “at least” two semi-automatic rifles and a pistol, opened fire on Monday morning at an elementary school in Nashville, in the southern United States, and killed in at least three children and three adults before she was shot, police said.

The shooter entered the premises of a private Christian school, named The Covenant School, in the morning with two semi-automatic rifles and a pistol, according to the police of this city of Tennessee.

Officers came in and “killed her,” she tweeted.

The firefighters said they had “treated several patients”, without giving further details on the age or condition of the victims.

The death of three children, hit by the bullets, was “noted on arrival at the hospital”, said officials of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, quoted in particular by the local television NewsChannel 5.

Three adults also died, according to this channel and its colleague WSMV4, who do not know if the shooter is among these three dead.

The United States, where approximately 400 million firearms are in circulation, is frequently bereaved by deadly shootings, including in schools.

The most recent tragedy took place in Uvalde, Texas in May, where a young man armed with a semi-automatic rifle killed 19 children and two teachers.
