Due to a software glitch, several branches of the Karlsruhe drugstore company DM had temporary problems with their cash registers on Tuesday morning.

The error was noticed quickly because it first appeared in stores that opened at 7 a.m., the company reported. IT specialists found the cause quickly and fixed the error. Most cash registers are functional again, said DM boss Christoph Werner.

How many stores nationwide were affected by the breakdown remained unclear even when asked. It was also not communicated exactly what problems there were when checking out.
