The City of Montreal has announced the opening of six temporary emergency shelters for people without electricity as of 9 p.m. Thursday evening.
These shelters will allow the Montreal population to warm up and spend the night, explained the City of Montreal in a press release published Thursday. They were established in collaboration with the Red Cross. They are open from 9 p.m. Thursday evening.
In addition, “Montreal is hard at work on the ground to ensure the safety of the population as well as the fluidity of travel,” said the City.
“The Montreal Fire Department recommends that people who use space heaters pay particular attention to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning,” the City also said.
