The NCAA baseball tournament is here folks, and it’s going down with a bang! The Division I Baseball Committee will be announcing the 64-team field and first-round matchups on Monday, so get ready to see some intense action on the diamond. The Southeastern Conference (SEC) schools have snagged eight out of the 16 regional sites, matching their impressive record from back in 2023. Teams like Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, and Vanderbilt will be kicking off the tournament at home, ready to show the competition what they’re made of.
The SEC isn’t the only conference making waves though, with three Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) teams also hosting regional games. Clemson, Florida State, and North Carolina will be representing the ACC on their home turf, hoping to secure a spot in the College World Series. Newcomers like Oregon and UCLA from the Big Ten will also be hosting, along with schools from the Sun Belt Conference and independent powerhouse Oregon State. Each regional will feature four teams battling it out in a double-elimination format, with the action starting this weekend and running through June 2. The winners will then face off in the super regionals, where only the strongest will survive to advance to the next round.
Not really sure why this matters, but it’s worth noting that Florida State is hosting a regional for the 37th time, making them the ultimate hosts in NCAA baseball history. Schools like FSU, Georgia, North Carolina, Oregon State, and Tennessee all hosted last year, while Arkansas and Clemson are looking to keep their hosting streak alive for a third consecutive year. With 29 conferences earning automatic berths and 35 at-large selections, the field of 64 is shaping up to be a showdown for the ages. The College World Series will kick off on June 13 at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, where the best of the best will battle it out for collegiate baseball supremacy. So grab your peanuts and cracker jacks, folks, because this tournament is about to be one for the books!
