(Kyiv) Twelve Iranian-made drones were shot down over Kyiv in a new Russian attack on the Ukrainian capital that caused no casualties, the city’s military administration said on Tuesday.

“The anti-aircraft defense forces spotted and destroyed 12 Shahed-type drones,” military administration chief Sergei Popko said on Telegram.

Shards from a drone fell on an administrative building in the Svyatochynsky district, in the west of the capital, causing destruction and a fire, which could be quickly extinguished, he said.

These explosive drones are at the heart of Russian attacks launched since the fall against essential Ukrainian infrastructure and which have temporarily deprived millions of Ukrainians of heat, water and electricity during the winter.

In total, Russia launched 15 combat drones against Ukraine late Monday, the Ukrainian Air Force said Tuesday morning, claiming to have shot down 14.

“ The probability of further missile and air strikes remains high throughout Ukrainian territory ”, the Ukrainian General Staff said in its morning report.
