Fredi Bobic has got his dream candidate: Sandro Schwarz is the new coach at Hertha BSC – and thus the fourth coach since Bobic took office a year ago. From this alone it can be seen that this personnel decision by the sports director is now correct and things must go up at Hertha.

Probably no one expects that the Bundesliga soccer club will start straight away in the direction of European cup places. But what the fans can expect after three almost consistently bad years is a clear step in the right direction. With better results, nicer football and, should points one and two times not be possible, at least constant struggle and commitment.

Black should do all of this. That’s what he was brought in for. Schwarz is not a big name in the industry, but he has shown at FSV Mainz 05 and Dynamo Moscow that he is good at dealing with young players and integrating them into the squad. And above all in Moscow he recently showed that he is able to develop a team in a short time and bring it forward.

From now on, black at Hertha is responsible for success on the pitch. However, he needs support from others for this, he cannot do it alone. The constant noise, especially from investor Lars Windhorst, must stop. Just like the opposition in many areas. An upswing in the sporting sector will only succeed if peace finally returns behind the scenes.

In the second half of the season, the club sometimes managed to hit the headlines every day over the course of a week – and mostly negatively. The result of this was evident at the general meeting last Sunday: Hertha BSC is a deeply divided club that has moved far away from the grassroots. Or as one member put it succinctly: “We are the most embarrassing club in Germany.” Changing that is one of Bobic’s major tasks. If he succeeds, it can be the basis for a successful work by coach Schwarz.
