Trade unionist Irene Schulz temporarily becomes the new IG Metall district leader for Berlin, Brandenburg and Saxony. The 58-year-old will temporarily take over the office until December in addition to her function as executive board member, IG Metall announced on Wednesday.

The board decided that evening. A long-term solution should be found at the top by the end of the year. Schulz takes over the management from Birgit Dietze, who resigned from the position at the beginning of July for personal reasons after less than two years.
