Weekly parking bans, aimed at allowing the passage of mechanical brooms, are back on the streets of Montreal starting Saturday, April 1.

In the coming weeks, the City will take advantage of these freed streets to carry out its “big spring cleaning”.

“This important annual operation requires the participation of some 1,000 blue collar workers and a lot of equipment,” said elected official Maja Vodanovic in a press release. “To make the most of our public spaces and keep them in good condition, we also invite the public to do their part. »

Municipal employees will have to clean 4,100 km of streets, 6,500 km of sidewalks, nearly 900 km of bike paths and some 1,500 parks, the city said.

The intensive spring cleaning operation will last approximately six weeks. It “will make it possible to restore its luster to the city, in particular by eliminating the abrasives used during the winter”, continues Montreal.
