(Longueuil) A man was seriously injured following an armed attack on Sunday evening in Longueuil, in Montérégie.

According to the Longueuil agglomeration police department (SPAL), around 5:20 p.m., an altercation escalated into an armed assault involving a sharp object. The conflict took place in a rooming house located on rue Grant, in Longueuil.

“A man in his 40s was transported to a hospital with upper body injuries and his condition is unstable at this time,” said agent Mélanie Mercier, spokesperson for the SPAL.

Five suspects are said to have fled, but police have not made any arrests at this time.

A perimeter was erected around the scene and investigators went to the scene to establish the causes and circumstances surrounding this event.
