On the Spanish holiday island of Mallorca, the police arrested a German on suspicion of arson. The man is accused of having set fire to a total of seven places on Saturday and Sunday, including near forests near Calvià , about 20 kilometers west of Palma, the police said on Monday. A spokesman added that this was even more dangerous than usual because of the current extreme risk of forest fires as a result of drought.
Luckily all the fires could have been extinguished quickly. Details of the identity of the German were not initially communicated.
