Greetings from the industrial district! The “Old Texas Town” in Berlin-Haselhorst, built in the 1970s, is wedged between the metro and the new Siemens campus. But the story is older: During the Nazi era, the “Cowboys Club” was founded under supervision in Neukölln, but had to appear in public under the name “Club Deutscher Weidereiter”.

After the end of the war under the US allies, the cowboys had it easier – before their ranch had to give way to the Reuter power plant, which is just around the corner: here is the whole history of the club around Ralf Keber aka Jack Hunter – above you can see a photo of the little dance in the cowboy look.

After the Corona crisis, the club is now opening again. The new Tagesspiegel newsletter for Spandau has now reported on this, in which we give you lots of excursion tips, dates and district news – once a week and bundled district by district: free of charge at leute.tagesspiegel.de.

But back to the cowboys from Haselhorst: The start is on June 4th, from 6.30 p.m. until deep into darkness. Admission: 10 euros, children 3 euros. The money goes into the maintenance of the western town. If you want to take a look at the menu in the saloon, please do: The Mexican bean soup is available for 4.50 euros. The grill is on outside. www.old-texas-town.de

We also often let readers have their say in the newsletter, after all nobody knows the neighborhood as well as the people who live there.
