After the death of an elderly woman who was the victim of a robbery in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen, a 15-year-old was arrested. According to Tagesspiegel information, an arrest warrant was issued against the 15-year-old alleged perpetrator because of the risk of absconding.

The alleged perpetrator was arrested on Wednesday after another robbery on a 79-year-old in the Reinickendorf district, the police and prosecutors announced on Thursday. The youth is on file with the police as a “neighborhood-oriented multiple offender”.

He was due to appear before a magistrate on the same day. The public prosecutor’s office requested that the youth be taken into custody due to the risk of recurrence. He is being investigated for robbery resulting in death. The young person had already attracted the attention of the police several times with similar acts, it said. According to Tagesspiegel information, the alleged perpetrator is a Bulgarian citizen.

The 75-year-old was taken to the hospital after the robbery last Tuesday with injuries to her face and a broken thigh. She died there shortly afterwards. The 15-year-old is said to have hit the woman in the face during the robbery and then tugged at the elderly woman’s shopping bag until the handle broke off and the woman fell to the ground.

The 79-year-old in Reinickendorf had a similar experience on Wednesday afternoon: according to the investigators, she was suddenly thrown to the ground from behind. When the elderly woman was lying on the ground, the accused is said to have hit her in the face several times with his fist and snatched her handbag. However, the woman escaped with minor injuries to her face and hips.

Police officers from the responsible area searched the area for the 15-year-old after the robbery and finally stopped him with the help of a 40-year-old passer-by in a residential area, it was said. Some of the loot had already been found near the crime scene and returned to the victim.
