The first, huge joy of the Leipzig pros and fans about the cup triumph was followed by minutes of oppressive silence. Shortly after the DFB Cup final in the sold-out Berlin Olympic Stadium on Saturday, a man near the photographer’s stand had to be resuscitated. The SC Freiburg and RB Leipzig players sat and stood quietly on the pitch. Only after about 20 minutes did the stadium announcer cautiously give the all-clear, saying the patient was “stable”. An ambulance took him out of the stadium to applause from the spectators.
