(Kourou) The European Juice probe successfully separated from the Ariane 5 rocket on Friday after taking off from Kourou in French Guiana, heading for Jupiter and its icy moons.
The probe separated as planned from the launcher at an altitude of 1,500 kilometers, 27 minutes after launching at 8:14 a.m. (Eastern time) from the Guiana Space Center. The Ariane 5 mission “is a success,” said Stéphane Israël, president of Arianespace.
