Berlin’s Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey has been infected again with the corona virus. The SPD politician announced this on her Instagram and Twitter channels.

“It hit me just in time for the start of vacation,” Giffey wrote on Instagram on Tuesday for a photo that shows her next to a laptop. “I tested positive.”

She therefore had to cancel her planned participation in the commemoration event planned for Wednesday on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the resistance against the National Socialist tyranny of July 20, 1944 in the Plötzensee memorial. She will also be absent from Christopher Street Day on Saturday.

“My deputy mayor Klaus Lederer will represent me,” wrote the governing mayor. The Senate session on Tuesday, however, took place in digital form – with Giffey.
