Frankfurt Mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD) announced in a statement on Wednesday that he wanted to largely hold back on public appointments. He also offered to suspend his membership in the SPD. However, he did not comply with his party’s request to resign.

Feldmann apologized for mistakes in the past few days. Among other things, he addressed allegations in connection with a sexist statement about flight attendants. “Yes, I made mistakes,” said Feldmann, for which he was rightly criticized.

The 63-year-old is accused of corruption in connection with the Awo affair and has also been noticed by other slips in the past few days. A video appeared in which the mayor spoke of flight attendants on the flight to the Europa League final from Eintracht Frankfurt to Seville, “who put me out of action hormonally at first”.
