A hundred healthcare professionals gathered Thursday morning in downtown Montreal to denounce the slowness of the renewal of their collective agreement, which expired on March 30.

“On all the stands, the Minister of Health, the President of the Treasury Board and the Prime Minister regularly repeat that they want to have a quick agreement, and this, before the summer. For the moment, the negotiations are still at one day per two-week period, so it is clearly insufficient to achieve this,” laments the president of the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec (FIQ), Julie Bouchard, in an interview with The Press.

Behind her, nurses, nursing assistants, respiratory therapists and clinical perfusionists from Montreal, the Laurentians, Lanaudière, Montérégie and Centre-du-Québec had gathered in front of the Novotel, in downtown Montreal. .

“This is where the negotiating committee and government officials are meeting today. We are there in support,” Ms. Bouchard said. The FIQ is asking in particular for better salary conditions, the adoption of a law on safe healthcare professional/patient ratios and measures to promote work-life balance.
