According to a report, a test could soon become mandatory for everyone when attending major events – regardless of whether someone is vaccinated or not. According to the “Bild” newspaper on Tuesday, the federal government is considering introducing a corresponding 1G rule.

This was discussed at a switching conference between Chancellor Wolfgang Schmidt (SPD) and the heads of the state chancellery last Thursday.

The 1G rule was then discussed because of the critical assessment of the 2G/3G rules by the Committee of Experts. In addition, 50 million to 60 million people are to be vaccinated in a new vaccination campaign.

According to the report, however, the federal government expects difficulties with the availability of the vaccines that are being adapted to the new omicron variant BA.5. Several vaccines are to be vaccinated in autumn: those that were developed for the Wuhan variant, but also newer vaccines that were developed for the omicron variant BA.1 or for the omicron variant BA.5.
