After being lost for 12 years, a dog was reunited with its owners in California.

Zoey was left in a vehicle on a rural property close to Stockton. Someone found her and called police. They said she looked old and sick.

A dog services officer checked the microchip of the dog and found that she was missing since 2010.

Michelle, Zoey’s owner, stated that she didn’t anticipate this would ever happen.

Zoey was missing so long that the microchip company had declared her dead since 2015 San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office stated.

Officer Brandon Levin scanned Zoey and got her owner’s details from the chip company. He also found that she had the same mobile number. He stated that Zoey was “in complete shock.”

The dog was located 60 miles away from Lafayette, where she went missing in 2010.

Michelle stated that she got her and her twin sister, who were six months old from the pound. She stayed with us for six months.

“We went to the shop for approximately 20 minutes, and when we returned, she was gone.

“I’m thrilled to bring her back, get healthy and let her live her whole life.”
