(Montreal) An arson attack caused heavy damage to a commercial building in northern Montreal in the middle of the night on Friday.

The accident caused no injuries.

The building is located on Bellevois Avenue, near the intersection of Forest Street, near the industrial sector of the Montreal-North borough.

The fire started around 3 a.m. Later, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Safety Service (SSIM) had suspicions about his cause.

By mid-morning, the criminal origin of the fire was confirmed. The investigation was therefore entrusted to the arson squad of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), which erected a security perimeter around the building.

Investigators were to go to the scene in the afternoon to try to clarify the cause of the disaster and find the culprits.

This event adds to a long series of suspicious or arson fires that have damaged nearly fifteen vehicles in different neighborhoods of Montreal since Wednesday evening. Two of them were lit on Friday night in the Rivière-des-Prairies district.

The fires that have occurred since the middle of the week have not caused any apparent injuries.
