(Montreal) A young man who was seriously injured during an altercation that involved a few people late Thursday evening, in the east end of Montreal, will survive his injuries according to what has been confirmed to the Police Department of the City of Montreal (SPVM).

The conflict would have occurred in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district, on rue Saint-Catherine Est, near the intersection of boulevard Pie-IX, according to what was indicated by several people who called the 911 emergency telephone exchange, shortly after 10:30 p.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the 21-year-old man with serious upper body injuries and arranged for him to be transported to hospital.

The other people who allegedly took part in the altercation had already fled; no one was arrested.

Police investigators had to comb through the crime scene to find out the circumstances of the confrontation and to capture suspects.
