After a winter break, the reconstruction of the overpass on Boulevard des Galeries-d’Anjou will resume next Monday, above Highway 40. This vast project started in 2021 should be completed by the end of 2023. Several obstacles will again be expected in the coming months.

“These interventions are aimed at carrying out phases 1 to 4 of the project, in particular the reconstruction of the overpasses in the north and south direction and the finishing works”, recalled the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD), in a press release released on Monday.

On Highway 40, complete closures, both in the evening and at night or on weekends, will therefore have to be carried out in the coming weeks. “Westbound, night closures of ramps in the Anjou interchange will be required by default,” warns the ministry from the outset.

As for the service roads of Highway 40, i.e. Boulevard Métropolitain, partial and complete closures are currently planned in the evening, at night or on weekends, at Boulevard des Galeries-d ‘Anjou. Access closures to the service road are also to be expected. The ramp leading to rue Jean-Talon Est and boulevard des Galeries-d’Anjou could also be closed at several times, with clearly marked detours.

The authorities will also have to carry out complete closures of the boulevard des Galeries-d’Anjou in the south direction on the overpass. Detours will then be organized via Jarry and du Champ-d’Eau streets, to get to the shopping center and in the area south of Highway 40.

Finally, on rue Jean-Talon Est, partial closures at night or “long duration” could occur in the coming months.

These obstacles will be felt “both on the motorway and local network”, warns the MTMD. “The impediments will be clarified by way of press releases as soon as they are known. Detours will be marked with temporary signage,” he also points out, adding that in the event of unforeseen “adverse weather conditions or operational constraints,” the start of construction may have to be postponed.

Users are invited to use the Québec 511 platform to check the status of obstructions live, and thus better plan their trips.
