2024 is a super election year in Germany. A total of 13 elections will take place in this country, including the European elections, several local elections and three state elections. You can find all dates and information here.

The European elections are taking place in Germany on June 9, 2024. Local elections will take place on the same day in Baden-Württemberg, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. The state parliaments in Saxony, Thuringia and Brandenburg will be re-elected in September.

The repeat for the 2021 federal election in Berlin was carried out at the beginning of the year, on February 11th. In 2021, there were several inconsistencies in the voting process on election Sunday, so a court ordered the election to be repeated. The AfD and CDU gained slightly in the repeat.

Local elections will take place in Thuringia on May 25th. On June 9th it will be the turn of Baden-Württemberg, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. The local governments are elected in the local elections. Depending on the region, this includes district councils, local councils, district advisory councils, local councils, regional assembly, district assemblies, city councils, city council assemblies, community councils, association councils, local councils and the district council.

On June 9th, the European Parliament election will take place at the same time as the local elections. Eligible voters aged 16 and over can cast their vote for the party that will represent their opinion at EU level.
