(Saint-Côme – Linière) A toddler is fighting for his life in hospital on Monday after sustaining serious “accidental” injuries.
Sûreté du Québec (SQ) agents were called around 10:30 a.m. Monday morning to go to a residence in Saint-Côme-Linière, in Beauce, to assist paramedics.
It was there that they found that a child had inflicted serious injuries on himself, which however appeared to be accidental.
“The nature of the injuries and the circumstances in which the event took place are not public,” said Sergeant Claude Doiron, of the SQ, since they are part of the police investigation.
An SQ investigator was also dispatched to the scene to better understand the circumstances that led to the child’s injuries.
The child’s life was still in danger in the hospital as of early Monday afternoon.
For reasons of confidentiality, the SQ does not disclose the exact age of the child.
