(Montreal) The 235 professionals of the Library and National Archives of Quebec have given themselves a strike mandate.

They voted 90% in favor of a five-day strike mandate that would be exercised at the appropriate time.

These workers are members of the Syndicate of Professionals of the Government of Quebec — a large union independent of the labor centrals.

The collective agreement between professional staff and BAnQ expired on March 31, 2020, as was the case for all unions in the public and parapublic sectors. The latter have since renewed their collective agreements for 2020-2023.

The dispute is mainly about salary increases.
