(Montreal) A pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision with a motorist in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, in Montreal, Monday afternoon.

The 66-year-old man was crossing Papineau Avenue from east to west, south of Fleury East Street, according to information collected by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

He was transported to a hospital center by Urgences-Santé. He would have suffered major injuries to the upper body, said SPVM spokesperson Jeanne Drouin.

If his condition was deemed critical in the afternoon, Ms. Drouin indicated at the start of the evening that he had stabilized.

The 19-year-old motorist was traveling northbound on Papineau Avenue when he collided with the pedestrian around 3:30 p.m.

Collision investigators were dispatched to the scene to establish the circumstances surrounding this event.
