(Les Cèdres) A ​​truck driver driving a heavy truck went off the road Sunday afternoon in Les Cèdres, Montérégie, which cost him his life.

The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Highway 20 at kilometer 22. The trucker was traveling eastbound when he veered off the road to the right. He ended his race in trees.

The driver in his forties was transported to a hospital center where he was found dead, said Sûreté du Québec (SQ) sergeant Jean-Raphaël Drolet.

The exact cause of the accident remains to be determined, but the SQ thinks it was a malaise suffered by the trucker.

An eastbound lane is currently closed on Highway 20 East as well as the access ramp from Chemin Saint-Dominique in Les Cèdres.

An officer trained in investigation and collision was dispatched to the scene to better understand the circumstances surrounding this event.
