A fire in a building under construction Wednesday morning in Montreal reduced the visibility of drivers on the Jacques-Cartier bridge. The blaze, which caused no injuries, was quickly extinguished.
Around 8:45 a.m., a fire started in a container outside a building under construction on Fullum Street, in the Center-Sud district. It quickly spread on the facing of the building up to the fifth floor.
A large cloud of smoke was clearly visible Wednesday at rush hour. About 50 firefighters were deployed to the scene.
A few dozen workers were in the building when the fire broke out. “There were no injuries or fatalities,” said Stephanie Laurin, section chief at the Montreal Fire Department.
The fire, the cause of which is unknown at this time, ended shortly before 10 a.m.
