(Montreal) A 90-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision with the driver of a scooter, in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles, in Montreal, Monday evening.

The collision occurred around 8:45 p.m. at the intersection of 42nd Avenue and Boulevard Perras, in Rivière-des-Prairies.

The scooter driver would have been traveling east on Perras Boulevard, while the pedestrian was crossing from north to south, said spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Jeanne Drouin.

The nonagenarian was injured in the upper body and transported to a hospital, according to the SPVM. His state of health was not yet known in the middle of the evening.

The 39-year-old driver was treated for shock.
