What famous General Vlasov to the betrayal

History 22/02/20 What famous General Vlasov to the betrayal

General A. A. Vlasov to his move to the German side managed to become one of the most celebrated military commanders of the red army. In political terms, it was also considered to be exceptionally trustworthy. All the party features on it was stressed by the Supreme devotion of the Vlasov case of the party of Lenin and Stalin and the ruthlessness of the enemies of Soviet power. In 1937-1938 major-General Vlasov, according to some reports, was a member of military tribunals Leningrad, then Kiev military districts and actively participated in the “cleansing” officers of the red army. In late 1938 he was sent to a military adviser to China, which, according to some historians, saved him from reprisals, which, in turn, got many of their performers.

Chiang Kai-shek praised the activities of the Vlasov and awarded him the high order of the Golden Dragon, and the wife of the Chan – a Golden watch. Back in the USSR, Vlasov, as all Soviet specialists who worked abroad, was obliged to hand over awards and gifts to the state. Some biographers believe that it had already sown the seeds in the Vlasov hostility to the Stalinist regime.

In January 1940, Vlasov was appointed commander of the 99th infantry division, stationed in the Kiev military district, on the border, near the city of Przemysl. For successes in combat training and organizational work Vlasov was awarded the order of the red banner and a gold watch, and after some time – the highest in the Soviet Union the order of Lenin (brightened it his insult from the Chinese take away awards?). About him in laudatory tones, first wrote of the Metropolitan press. In the first days of the war 99th division was among the few who assisted the enemy in an organized and persistent resistance. However, by the time Vlasov already half a year it is not commanded, so in January 1941 he was appointed commander of the 4th mechanized corps in the same district (South-Western front since the war began).

the 4-th mechanized corps was one of the strongest compounds of the southwestern front. Tanks alone a new type of KV-1 and T-34 there were more than 400 – half the total number of tanks that the Germans had in the entire group of armies “South”! The corps took part in the counterattack against the German troops, who on June 23 was trying to arrange chief of General staff G. K. Zhukov and the commanders of the southwestern front. But the counterattack was unsuccessful. Orders of Zhukov, in charge of through the head front command, and the commander of the 6th army, N. And. Muzychenko part of the case was sent on divergent directions and lack of a single control. Body lost almost all the tanks, mostly due to breakdowns during the long marches on roads and the lack of repair facilities.

General Vlasov tried to rectify the situation created by stupid orders from higher authorities. In combat with the enemy subordinate troops showed skill and fortitude. His efforts were appreciated by the command of the southwestern front, declared gratitude to him. On the recommendation of a member of the Military Council of the front N. With. Khrushchev’s General Vlasov was appointed commander of the 37th army, before which stood an important task – to defend Kiev.

the Vlasov Army coped with this task – the enemy took the frontal impact. Based on the Kiev fortified area, part of the 37th army repeatedly inflicted on the Germans sensitive counterattacks. The enemy captured Kiev only by his deep crawl from the flanks and surrounding the East most of the forces of the southwestern front. The environment was and the 37th army. General Vlasov did not lay down his arms and fought to the end. He was lucky to escape from the environment together with a group of soldiers. In the battles at the exit of the enemy ring he was injured and in the hospital.

the recovery in November 1941, Vlasov was summoned to the Kremlin. Stalin personally ordered him to take command of the newly formed under Macquoy the 20th army, which meant a key role in the forthcoming offensive of the Soviet troops. In late November, the connection of the army moved into the area of Krasnaya Polyana, where the Germans are close to Moscow and stopped the advance of the enemy. December 5, Soviet forces counterattacked. 12 Dec part of 20-th army drove the enemy from Solnechnogorsk, 20 Dec Volokolamsk released.

13 December, the Soviet information Bureau announced the failure of Hitler’s plan for the encirclement and capture of Moscow and glorified the names of the commanders with whom was associated a victory near Moscow. Among them were the General Vlasov. On 14 December he gave an interview to correspondent bi-Bi-si who accompanied British foreign Minister E. Eden on his trip to the front line near Moscow. This indicated an unusually high level of confidence to Vlasov personally from Stalin. At the end of January 1942, Vlasov was awarded a second order of the red banner and promoted to Lieutenant General.

Vlasov became one of the most popular Soviet commanders. About him – the only one of those of whom the country has learned since the beginning of the war – the soldiers at the front have composed limericks. Here is one:

Said bass cannon,

the military Thunder rumbled.

General comrade Vlasov

the Germans pepper asked!

on 8 March 1942 Vlasov was appointed Deputy commander of the Volkhov front, General of the army K. A. Meretskov. Before the troops of the front’s task was to meet the shock troops of the Leningrad front to lift the blockade of Leningrad, to encircle and destroy the 18-th German army. The troops of the Volkhov front managed to drive a deep wedge into the German defenses in Luban, where was involved the 2nd shock army. Further, the offensive stalled, and the 2nd shock itself was in the operational bag.

March 20, Vlasov was sent directly to the 2nd shock army at the head of the Commission front. The result of the trip was the removal from office of the commander of the army Lieutenant General N. To. Klykova and Vlasov April 20 took his place, remaining at the same time Deputy commander of the front. Vlasov himself was not harassed this post. Soon the Germans surrounded the 2nd shock and commenced its liquidation. May 21 Stavka ordered the commander of the operational group of the Volkhov front, Colonel-General M. S. Hoshino to take action to break the army out of the encirclement and tap it over the Volkhov. For failure to order Khozin was on June 6 removed from command.

Thus, General Vlasov was surrounded by entirely the fault of the higher command. He had the opportunity to get out of the environment on the plane, but chose to share the fate of the encircled troops. The way he behaved in captivity are a different story.
