(Kyiv) Five people were killed in a Russian strike on the town of Kostiantynivka, in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine, and a sixth died in another attack in the south of the country, announced Friday authorities.

“Three women and two men died” in Kostiantynivka, located about 20 kilometers west of Bakhmout, the epicenter of fighting with the Russian army, the State Service for Emergency Situations said on Telegram.

The strike that occurred overnight from Thursday to Friday hit a building housing a humanitarian reception center in this city, relief workers said.

The three women whose bodies were taken out of the debris had previously been evacuated from the localities of Bakhmout, Chassiv Iar and Opytné, which were badly affected by the fighting, the public prosecutor’s office said on Telegram.

A projectile from a Russian S-300 anti-aircraft battery hit the reception center building and another fell next to it, according to the prosecutor’s office.

In addition, on Friday morning, a woman was killed and four other civilians injured by artillery fire in the village of Bilozerka, in the Kherson region (south), added the prosecution.

Houses, power lines and gas pipelines were damaged by the bombardment, he said.
