Anthony Modeste is not in the squad of 1. FC Cologne because of his almost certain change to runners-up Borussia Dortmund in the first league game of the Bundesliga. “At the request of Tony Modeste, we reached an oral agreement in principle with BVB about his move to BVB this afternoon,” said FC Managing Director Christian Keller.
“Confirmation of the transfer is to be made after the medical check scheduled for tomorrow. That’s why we decided together that Tony won’t be in the squad today, even though Tony gave the clear signal that he wanted to play.” The 34-year-old Frenchman scored 20 goals last season.
Meanwhile, there is no newcomer in the starting XI at FC. Instead of the expected ex-Hoffenheimer Sargis Adamyan, Jan Thielmann and Florian Dietz play up front. The 24-year-old from the U23 makes his Bundesliga debut.
